My boobs have always fluctuated in size since I started my period at the age of 14, & since then they’ve gone through various size stages such as;
& the current stage I am at is at a consistent sized stage, not as perky as they once were, but barely wear a bra due to the fact I feel like I’m suffocating. I’ve gone through ups and downs with my boobs, similar to the ever changing size, I have loved and I have hated them, but because of them I have often avoided running due to the persistent bouncing (another one of my excuses not to run).
Well, I had to face running recently…I have been visiting my parents in Hawaii & my mum has decided to jump onto Orange Theory’s bandwagon & rightly so, it’s an hour of hell that seems to keep you fit, whilst burning calories & trying not to vom up your toast.
& my first hour of hell involved A LOT of sprints, which resulted in…pulling a muscle in my left boob. ONE BOOB. Muscle pulled. WHAT!? It felt like I had gone 10 rounds in the ring with constant punching to the tit, I couldn’t lie on my side & at times it felt as if I was winded. Girls, please tell me I am not alone in my journey of the bouncing tit injuries whilst running?
The boys used to joke at school…’oh careful, you’ll knock yourself out with those’ OR ‘when you lie down, do your boobs suffocate you?’ & now I wish I could be in one of those conversations and say…actually pal, if you sprint hard enough, without the best supportive bra on, you’ll end up injuring yourself & risk the tits sagging further...and then I'd grab them by the balls to ensure they feel some of the boob pain I, as have many other women, felt!
Luckily for me the breast pain has gone & was a quick lesson learnt, I even managed to get myself back to Hell on Earth to endure a consistent treadmill cardio session for 25 minutes…I wore a very secure sports bra this time whilst trying not to cry.
So the moral to this post is…wear supportive sports bras, nothing more, nothing less. Tits are fantastic, small tits, big tits & even no tits, we’re all beautiful no matter the boob stage, but we must ALWAYS look after our bodies (boys too). Move your body, love it & take care of it, from skincare to sports bras to taking a time out to disconnect, rest, meditate and tell yourself how incredible you are!
How do you look after yourself?
